With a BritRail South West Flexi Pass you can visit popular destinations including: London, Bath, Oxford, Windsor Castle, Salisbury Cathedral, King Arthur's round table in Winchester and any stop in between.

Also, the Southwest coast boasts beautiful seaside resorts and picturesque waterfront towns such as: Torquay, Dawlish, Teignmouth, Bournemouth, Portsmouth, St. Ives, Exeter, Plymouth and Penzance. How does a scenic ride through Cornwall and Devon sound?


  • The BritRail South West Pass is valid for travel on parts of the railway networks of England and Wales.

  • Not valid for residents of England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales.

Areas covered on the pass

  • The BritRail South West Flexi Pass is valid for travel on most mainline and branch line services operated by First Great Western, South West Trains and Heathrow Express trains.

  • Boundaries: Pass is not valid beyond these points: London Paddington (on the East), Greenford, Marlow, Henley, Reading, Didcot, Oxford, Banbury, Hereford, Gloucester (in direction of Chepstow), Bristol Parkway, Cardiff, Swansea, Bristol Temple Meads, Weston-Super-Mare, Barnstaple, Gunnislake, Newquay, St.Ives, Penzance, Falmouth Docks, Looe, Exmouth, Weymouth, Portsmouth Harbour, Basingstoke and Gatwick Airport

  • Exclusions: Pass is not valid on Eurostar services, road links between airport and railway stations, tram links, privately owned railways, steam services, London Underground trains and buses, boats, hovercraft, nor any other services not mentioned.

Are passholder seat reservations compulsory?

Seat reservations on trains within Britain are not compulsory they are optional. You can purchase your rail pass and just simply hop on the train you wish to travel on. Of course it depends on which class you purchase. If you purchase First class then you can sit anywhere in First class and the same rule applies for a Second class pass. If you have a certain date and time you would like to travel then you can reserve a seat locally at the train station.
